Lace + Sheer

Lace used to be such a taboo fabric to wear in public. Now, it's used for blouses, red carpet dresses, leggings and even shoes! I bought this lace top from F21 late last year. I should've bought it a size smaller but belting it helps to make it fit better. I decided to pair it with my maxi skirt from F21 as well; the more "affordable" version of my BCBG one. I have been wanting to incorpate scaves and head wraps in my daily wardrobe and picked up 2 scarves from Target. One is this black one, and the other is a black and white printed one. I was running late for work and just decided to tie it in a bow the way I had seen Taren916 on youtube tie one up. Anyone else into turbans, scarves and head wraps?

P.S. June Ambrose is a BOSS when it comes to turbans!

Dorothy Perkins final review

I have come to the conclusion that Dorothy Perkins wants every paycheck I will ever get. I'm still able to find the same trendy pieces cut in my size. The prices are a little higher but it's sooo worth it. I have so much to choose from, it's overwhelming! I spend more money online at ASOS and Dorothy Perkins than I do at Forever21, Torrid, Target, Lane Bryant, and other U.S. based places.
I love my Dorothy Perkins pieces! I have paired them with skinny jeans, skirts, leggings you name it. The colors are rich and vibrant! The quality is top notch. I have a nude colored deconstructed blazer as well but don't have a pic of me in it. I threw it over a couple dresses but didn't take any pictures. I will say that I am able to order a size down in their merchandise because they are cut very generously. I have yet to try a dress, skirts or pants but plan to in the future. Has anyone tried their bottoms? Are they true to size?

Maxinista 2

Hello lovelies! Just wanted to quickly show how I wore the leopard print version of my BCBG maxi skirt. I paired it with one of my new tops from Dorothy Perkins. I love mixing leopard with bright colors, it just seems to pop even more! :)

Maxinista

I recently bought 2 BCBG maxi pleated skirts from my job. One is black and the other is leopard print (ya'll know I LOOOOOOVE leopard print!) I wore the black one and decided to pair it with a men's v-neck, my "vintage" Old Navy denim vest and my trusty purple boots. I received a lot of compliments on the ensemble from my co-workers and had to stop myself from spinning around to let the skirt flow lol. I also wore it with a simple grey tee from Forever21, my signature top knot (for protective styling!) and tons of accessories. I tried out some lipstick as well. This is one of those times I truly enjoy being tall because I can pull off these super long skirts with ease. I'll put up a post about the leopard print version.

Seeing Spots

Seriously...

I have a problem. In my current possession, I have 5 pairs of leopard print shoes (2 flats, one wedge, pumps and one ankle bootie), a leopard iPhone cover, a leopard tunic from Dorothy Perkins and 2 leopard print maxi pleated skirts from Forever21 and BCBG. Below are the items I own.

I am out of control! Lol but for real, I need to get a handle on my life right now, this is becoming an obsession. I would love a leopard print fitted dress and a few more tops but that just depends on 1) the seasons changing and 2) my bank account.

Anyone else obsessing over leopard? Or some other print? Please tell me I'm not alone!

Whip My Curls

Does anyone else have natural hair? I've posted about this before but I'm really curious to see if anyone else is on the "natural journey" lol. I've been natural my entire life; I used to get my hair straightened with a hot comb (later on, I switched to a flat iron) every 2 weeks. Standing appointment! But my hair reached a point my sophomore year of college where it stopped retaining length (all hair grows; retaining length is another story). And started to look thinner...just, horrible.

Usually in the summer time I would let my hair do it's thing. Which basically means I fought it. Back then there weren't really any "natural" hair products out there and no one was showcasing their curls. I tried every product under the sun! Summer of 2009 though, I started braiding my hair and bunning it (protective styling and didn't even know it!) and challenged myself to go as long as I could without heat on my hair. I also had managed to get my hands on some way better products, even though they were full of sulfates, silicones, parabens and all that bad stuff!

That was almost 3 years ago.

Since then, I have straightened my hair only twice. Once in April 2010 for a length check and once in March 2011 for my sister's wedding. Never again! I love my curls, I love having texture and being able to do so much more with my hair. It has definitely gotten longer, healthier, shinier and just all around more amazing. If I were to categorize it, I would say it's 3C with a mixture of 4A. Regardless, I love it! I'm currently doing a modified CG Method (Curly Girl Method) and my hair likes it. I also use Aloe Vera Gel, oils on my ends and finger detangle. Combs and brushes tend to rip through my hair or skimp over little tangles or knots too much. I love Kinky Curly, Curls (specifically their Creme Brulee), Curl Junkie, Darcy's Botanicals, and Nature's Gate.

Anyone else out there natural? We should have a meet-up!
